At the start of the project Nai Qala’s activities were modest, delivering hygiene kits and promoting hygiene practices in Daikundi province. Today, they’re leading the design and delivery of two major water construction projects. Through coaching and workshops, DAWAM supported Nai Qala to improve its technical capacity and governance.
“For the first time, we sat alongside other organisations as equals,”
says Taiba Rahim, President of Nai Qala Association, “We were able to engage directly with donors, thanks to the consortium’s spirit that promotes equality among all members”.

The consortium’s emphasis on women-led organisations and inclusive dialogue has had profound effects. One of Nai Qala's proudest achievements was involving men in discussions about female hygiene – traditionally a taboo subject. “Now they act as allies in promoting women’s health and dignity”.
Nai Qala also strengthened its internal governance, assigning dedicated staff to safeguarding and MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning), and revising key policies. Today, colleagues at Nai Qala feel more confident, resilient, and ready to lead future projects.
